It's not just any card company; we're different. We have noticed that many greeting cards that are not environmentally friendly and we don't like that. Hence, Neon Hotdog's mission is to create cards with a conscience.
We are committed to sustainable forest management and the protection of endangered species. All of our paper products are made from 100% FSC-certified pulp, which is grown in well-managed forests and harvested from renewable resources.
We use a mix of papers, all from local suppliers.
Our papers are either 40% reclaimed cup fibre and 60% virgin pulp or 100% recycled post-consumer waste fibres. We also continue to seek more 100% recycled paper options with the aim to be 100% recycled in the future.
Our bags are made in the UK from NATIVIA® film that has been accredited to EN 13432 and ‘OK biobased’. They are made from Plant Based (annually renewable) PLA derived from vegetable starches (cornstarch) and are compostable and biodegradable. Biodegradation occurs at end of life once exposed to moisture, heat and naturally occurring bacteria/fungi when it will break down into compost (not microplastics).
Our envelopes is made from 100% post-consumer waste.
We digitally print all of our cards. This is a more sustainable option than other printing methods, since it uses less energy, produces less waste, and has a smaller carbon footprint overall. We are still a small company but once our volumes increase me aim to move to 100% natural dyes.
If you're lucky enough to receive a card, don't just toss it in the bin when you're done with it. Jump on the chance to be creative and give that card a second life! Think of all the amazing things you can do with it - make a bookmark, cut it up and turn it into tags, or even donate it to a local primary school for some inspiring collage artwork. The possibilities are endless, and it's all up to you to give that card a second life!
